Virtual Mini-Academy: Get Connected to School with Digital Tools

• Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 6:00 P.M.
• This event will have closed captioning available in over 100 languages.
• Parents learn to connect with school staff using TalkingPoints and how they can stay on top  of important information with the OCPS Parent Portal.

Lunch and Learn: Understanding Parent Consent Forms

• Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 12:00 P.M.
• This event will be hosted on the OCPS Facebook page using Facebook Live.
• Parents learn how to provide consent in a variety of critical areas including using their child’s image, participating in clinic services and more!

• Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 10:00 A.M.
• This event will have dedicated sessions in Spanish and closed captioning in over 100 languages. 
• During this FREE you will leave with all of the information and resources to begin a successful school year.
  Sessions will be presented by various district and community partners. 
  The exhibit hall will have community resource and giveaways.
  Students grades Pre-k through 8th grade can stay in the Youth Academy for fun activities, games and complimentary lunch.

Virtual Mini-Academy: Understanding the OCPS Code of Student Conduct  

• Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 6:00 P.M.
• This event is to bilingual (English | Spanish) and is open to all families however, specific strategies will be shared for families who have students that are acquiring English in addition to their home language. 
• Parents gain information about the 2023-2024 OCPS Code of Student Conduct and how it applies to their child. Topics will include student discipline investigations and the appeal process.

Overview

The OCPS Parent Academy is committed to making a sustainable impact on student success, parenting and advocacy and personal growth/wellness. Our goal is to empower, engage and educate families and caregivers by providing high-quality training sessions, resources and access to skills and services.

The OCPS Parent Academy offers district-wide, face-to-face Parent Academies,  Learn Where You Live events which take place in each learning community, and virtual Lunch & Learn events on Facebook Live. 

In addition to the OCPS Parent Academy events, there are monthly trainings held by the Curriculum and Digital Learning, Discipline, Exceptional Student Education, Multilingual Services, Professional Learning and Student Services departments for families.
