What You Can Do Now

• Keep your contact information current. Current and former students should contact an OTC Campus Admissions Office to update their information. Employees can review or update their information through MyOCPS Employee Self-Service .
• Know emergency procedures. Identify nearby exits and designated assembly areas, and review the emergency information provided during campus orientation.
• Report concerns promptly. Report suspicious behavior, threats, crimes, or other safety concerns as soon as possible through OTC reporting options.

How OTC Alerts Work

Emergency mass notifications are sent through ParentSquare to provide timely information about emergencies, campus closures, protective actions, and other situations affecting an OTC campus.

Notifications use the contact information associated with your student or employee record. Keeping your phone number and email address current helps ensure that important messages can reach you.

When you receive an OTC Alert, read or listen to the complete message and follow the instructions provided. Additional messages may be sent as conditions change or when normal campus activities may resume.

Emergency Planning at OTC

OTC follows Orange County Public Schools emergency-management procedures and maintains campus-specific plans for responding to emergencies and disruptions.

Emergency planning includes staff training, campus drills, communication procedures, coordination with first responders, and regular review of campus safety plans.

Some detailed emergency procedures are not publicly posted because they contain security-sensitive information. General preparedness information is available through the OCPS Office of Emergency Management .

During an Alert or Drill

The appropriate response will depend on the situation. Always follow the instructions provided through an official alert and directions from campus staff or emergency responders.

• Stop what you are doing and listen for instructions.
• Do not assume an alert is only a drill unless it is clearly identified as one.
• Follow the protective action announced for the situation.
• Remain calm and keep exits and emergency-access areas clear.
• Continue checking official messages for updated instructions.

Evacuation & Drill Safety

OTC conducts drills so students and employees can practice emergency procedures, become familiar with evacuation routes, and identify areas where campus plans or communication systems may need improvement.

• Follow staff instructions and use the designated exit route.
• Do not use elevators unless directed by emergency personnel.
• Walk quickly without running, pushing, or blocking exits.
• Go directly to the designated assembly area.
• Remain with your class, department, or assigned group.
• Do not leave the assembly area or re-enter a building until authorized.
